Prayer is vital in a Christian’s life. Prayer allows us to worship and to praise our Lord. Prayer gives us the opportunity to ask for forgiveness of sins and to pray for others and to give Him our requests.

Prayer is an opportunity to communicate with our God. Prayer is personal between God and us. We thank Him for caring for us and all that He does in our lives.  He is our King and our friend!

Prayer helps others to know Christ and His love. Prayer can move the obstacles out of the way so God can work. God can do anything without our prayers, but He uses our prayers as part of His plan to do His will in this world. Prayer gives us power from evil forces in this world. Giving us the power not to fall to temptations in this world.

“…and My people [d]who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

Prayer keeps us humble in God’s presence. The Scripture says that humility is a virtue. Prayer reminds all of us that we are not in control, God is, so that we stay humble.

“Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matthew 26:41

Prayer not only strengthens our relationship with God. When we pray with other believers, our prayer strengthens us with other Christians. Prayer can succeed when all else fails. Prayer should never be the “last resort,” it should be our first response!

Do we need God through prayer? YES! God made us to have a prayerful relationship with Him. We function best in a prayerful relationship with our God!

C.S. Lewis said “God designed the human race to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to burn, the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other.”
