91.3 KGLY Early Afternoons
Christmas is just the best time! The first Christmas I spent in the first house I’d bought on my own I found myself sitting and watching the lights twinkle on my Christmas tree… the star shining on the top and the fireplace burning and crackling.
It made me think about the shepherds on that hillside the first Christmas, keeping watch over the flocks, warming by the fire. Suddenly, that brilliant star fairly blinded them with light!
I mean they’d been sitting in the dark and suddenly they were assaulted by the bright light. It had to be frightening! No wonder the first thing the angel said was “DON’T BE AFRAID!”
Now here we sit with the words “Do not be afraid” fairly echoing in our heads. “Do NOT be afraid. For unto you is born a Savior.”
In this day and time, in this season of Christmas, unlike any other season of Christmases, how much more do we need to cling to the words:
But the angel said to them, “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
